Our Month of July...

21/7/08 (Monday)

Phew…. Finally I see the sun!! Today is the first day; our life is sort of back to normal… wondering why I said so… another long chapter…

Since end of June, my 2 girls have been under some virus/bacteria attacked. Have been visited to paed almost twice a week, medical fees cost us more than RM 500 for the past 3 weeks! Thank god is all over!!

Don’t know how it get started, but my Wen Wen was down with cough & flu then fever… before she recover from cough & flu she was complaining her stomach ache & diarrhea. That lasted for almost 3-4 days. That was the first time ever, she complain that her bottle of milk is too much (even though is only about 3 ounces). Normally she will ask why we prepare so little milk for her even though the milk is already > 7 ounces. As a mother, I almost collapse seeing my darling chubby acted that way.

When she gains back her appetite, I thought I can jump in joy! But I was wrong! She now on high fever & she complain about her ear pain!! Another trip to paed, paed confirmed that stubborn/nasty phlegm was now filled her ear tube. Gosh!! Wen Wen was really on high fever, until I have to stripe her off & sponge her with water. That lasted for about 3-4 days. This time round, I thought is over but is NOT! Wen Wen’s fever on & off, no choice I have to make another trip to paed. Until the Paed show a long face, as he was also worry on Wen Wen’s condition. This time round, he prescribe a different antibiotic for Wen Wen… that happen last Thursday. Today finally, Wen Wen’s sun is out… she’s no longer having fever, now I only concentrated on the antibiotic. By this Wednesday, the course shld be finished. She went to school as usual. When I called her from office she was so excited talking about her activity in school… Thank god my nightmare is over…

Xuan Xuan’s story now…About the same time Wen Wen sick, my darling Xuan Xuan also down with cough & flu. Whatever happen to Wen Wen, it got spread to Xuan Xuan. The same story repeated itself on Xuan. Not long after the first visit to paed, Xuan Xuan also stomach ache, vomitted but no diarrhea. At one point of time also, Xuan Xuan down with high fever. I have to sponge her as well. The fortunate thing is that Xuan Xuan didn’t complain about her ear … but the unfortunate thing is that she got the eye infection!!! Wen Wen – ear infection, Xuan Xuan – eye infection! My heart is slice into pieces every time applying oilmen to Xuan Xuan’s infected eyes. Both her eyes got infected. Every morning, when she woke up, she can’t open her eyes. I have to use the wet cotton to wipe out all those sticky discharge before she can open her eyes again. Xuan Xuan is easier to manage compare to Wen Wen. Even though she wail & refuse to let me put on the oilmen for her, but after some grandmother story, she will still give in. If is Wen Wen, there will be violence involved. Phew… really…blessing in disguise…

My working days were darm long for the past 3 weeks…. As my heart was being steal by my 2 gals at home. I called back every 2-3 hours to check out their condition. I can’t concentrate in my work. But thank god…. I still manage to get it through…I’m happy that all is over…. Since yesterday, my house again filled with laughter, filled with their fighting noise, their quarrelling conversation & my grumble (ngam ngam cham cham)….

End of June....Updates...

27/6/08 (Friday) Sunny Day

Another 30 minutes, I will be able to logout from the office!!! Hooray!!! No mood to work so this leaves me sometime to blog about my 2 girls. Wen Wen oredi started her pre-school since May 08. She is quite stable now. Will arrange a transporter for her from July onwards. Initially she also refused to go to school. That time really sucks as I was with my new job, no phone yet, no AL, only worries left behind for me! I’m happy that is all over!

For Xuan Xuan, we manage to encourage her to school by drawing her a smiley face a day if she didn’t cry in the school. For Wen Wen, all thanks to Pinocchio. Wen Wen knew about the Pinochio story since she was 2. One day, the idea just came, I told her that all children have to go to school, just like how Gepetto told Pinochio, if kids refuse to go to school, Strombolli will catch them & lock them into a cage & they no longer able to see their mommy & daddy anymore. To my surprise, the next day, she went to school with very minimal hesitation & denial. Since then till now, she’s looking forward to go to school. Last week, daddy took leave to send her to school, she was complaining that why daddy so slow!!! When my husband called me to update, I can’t stop laughing.

Xuan Xuan is very filial & obedient girl. She will do some writing for me on daily basis Of course there are times she refuse to write, but I think is ok as she’s still that young. Whenever she has the mood, then she will write, else she will just mingle with all her toys or fighting with her little sister. She now can write 1-10 & all alphas (of course sometimes she still confuse on the mirror effect of the alpha, like C, she will write it the other way round. Anyway, I am already very happy with her achievement. Only 4-y-o, what to expect, right?

What a Happy Day

20/6/08 drizzling in the evening

Even though is a wet evening, traffic is still at an acceptable level. I reached home about 6.45pm. The moment Xuan Xuan saw me, she shouted: “mommy mommy, I have something to show you!” while she running towards a cupboard to grab the thing that she wanted to show me. This is not unusual as normally she will be that excited to show me all her art & craft that she did at school. Me as usual switching on the TV for a not so interesting show while waiting for her to show me her craft.

Hah! To my surprise, she is showing me this…

A trophy!!! Wah Seh... Xuan Xuan is getting her first trophy at her age of 4!! I’m extremely proud of her! I still remember early May this year, when she show me a notification letter from her kindergarten stating that there will be examination for 4-Y-O class in a week’s time. My reaction was like – OMG, what a world! Exam for 4-Y-O kids, unbelievable! What do they know at their tender age??? Anyway, being a mother I was a bit panic even though I don’t expect her to do well in the class + she’s only 4, to me, my main reason sending her to pre-school is wanting her to have more friends, wanting her to understand the concept of community. I was cooled down quite fast.

Back to her exam, after schooling for almost half a year, that was the first time I do revision with her a day before her so called ‘exam’. Luckily her exam schedule was quite relax, one day one subject – Malays, English, Maths & Chinese. I was quite shock when I come to know that she can recognize quite a number of Chinese words like ‘Head’, ‘hand’ & so forth. Never had I taught her a word of Chinese, not that I don’t know Chinese but then I don’t know how to start. Like English or Malay, I can always start her with alphabets, for Maths of course is 1,2,3… for Chinese I would believe is the stroke, the thing is which stroke, I myself don’t even have good foundation on Chinese. I really don’t want to contaminate Xuan Xuan’s spongy mind by educating her wrong /improper Chinese Stroke. Hard to find a good Mandarin Teaching Guide, maybe I am lazy!

She actually got full marks on all her test paper and I remembered once she told me that she got Number 1 in the class. I thought she was fascinating. Seems like she’s not! She really gets the first place in her class! I am proud! Extremely proud! Shiok! Shiok! What a wonderful day!

One month after joining this company...

19/6/08 Thursday

Wah! Time fly… without realizing, I have been with this new company for more than a month… wondering how’s my life over here? One thing for sure, I’m still surviving…
I have gotten all my passwords to access to different systems. Guess how many passwords that I am having? All in all, I have about 6-7 usernames & passwords to remember. This is the first time I have to remember that many username & passwords to access to different application within the company. They said is for security purposes! Ridiculous!!

Besides have to remember the many passwords, & which passwords for which system, I think I am coping quite well. I have also understood more about the system that I’m going to work on. Not so complicated after all. I believe practice make perfect, so I’m not worrying too much on that.

The major concern now is – our call centre really short of headcounts… really short!!! Anybody interested being a Customer Service Consultant? Do drop me a note…
Eeerrr…. My life now is still in peace, except a little bit bored as I still have not found a gang which I can attach to… Lots of old timers here, they are still not too open to embrace the new staff. Currently I am only close to another manager who joins the company the same time as me. She’s my lunch buddy, she’s my gossip partner, and she shares my joy & frustration. She’s warm & friendly. Most of all she is as ‘pat’ (busybody/nosey) as me! Having her around make my life a bit colorful during office hours…

I still enjoy an easy life during office hours as I don’t have any direct manager that I should report to. Currently I am reporting directly to the Head of Call Centre & she’s always very busy. Most of the time she’s attending meeting, what meeting I don’t know. This leave me loads of space to explore the call centre environment. I plan my work & I do it then keep it. I will continue to do this until the time tells me that I need to change. Being a newbie, I believe & think that being a little passive is always a smart move. So…let’s wait & see!

Since I plan my own work, I do it at my own pace too! This enables me to go back sharp on the dot everyday without fail. One thing that appears to be quite weird here is that, when I logout sharp on the dot, colleagues around me look at me one kind… why leh?? Because I seem to be the odd one out as 99% of the staff in the company will only leave the office between 6.30pm-7.30pm. I am working at my own pace, so why stay? Don’t care lah… as much as I want to go back sharp on the dot, I won’t stay back unnecessarily, family comes first.

I normally reach home about 6.30pm-7pm depending on the traffic. I spend some time on the not so interesting TV show, sometimes I do feed my girls (if my luck is good, my mom will do the job for me), waiting for my husband to come back from his work, we will go back to our own house after my husband had his dinner. After both of us had our bath, we will spend time with our 2 darling girls. Our life have not affected too much after I change my job. I am very grateful about it. The only thing that I’m not too happy with is – with the current employment, I don’t get to access internet at all. That’s also the main reason why my blog is frozen. Anyway, I will try to update my life as much as possible to keep my diary alive.

My new Job...

2/6/08 (Monday) Sunny

My new job…

I have been with this new company since 12/5/08. The first 2 weeks, I was undergoing training. I learn a lot even though it was boring. This is the first week I start looking at my own work. There isn’t any job description to me yet. Anyway, I guess roughly I know how my life gonna be soon…

I have given a task to roll out the Workforce Management System (WFM) this 16/6/08. I have yet to do any hands-on on this new system as I have not received my password till today. In another 2 weeks time, I will be judged! I will enjoy my life to the fullest before have to go back late. For the pass few weeks, I have been logging out from my work sharp on time. I’m going to logoff at 4.45pm today as well. Blessing in disguise hah!

I just wish that from next week onwards, I will have all my passwords ready. By then I will start familiarize myself with those robotic brain. God, please give me the strength to manage those machines. I really do hope that I won’t have much hard time mingle around with them!

That’s all about my job…

How to make your kid CLEAN UP after play...

After leaving comments in this post, reached home I get this…

When is time to clear up, I gave them a plastic bag each and told them “Let’s have some fun! Let’s see today who can keep more Alphas & numbers in her plastic bag.”
Without screaming, they started to clear the mess.

Within few seconds….tada…All Done!

Try turn the clean up session into a competition and you will be surprise to see the pride on your kid when he/she keep more than his/her counterpart! Look at my 2 girls and you will know what I mean.

Sometimes, we sing Barney’s Clean-Up song while we clean up. It goes like this…
Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody Everywhere;
Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody Do Your Share!

I will lead the song in progressive mode, start with slow tempo, then medium, then fast! Is fun!! Also within minutes, the space is cleared!

Sometimes, after much coax & nagging, if my 2 girls still don’t clean up. Then I will start picking up the toys & put in the storage box. After picking up few pieces, I will pretend I strain my back & start moaning: ouch here ouch there… (drama a bit lah). Then I will ask for help from my 2 darling! And they will do the rest. Little trick for great success!

Hope the above give you some idea dealing with your little ones when they refuse to clean up after the play session. Let me know whether it works for you!
